Art Exhibit: Diane Murphy

"Dual Focus - From Backyard to Burren" on display from November 17 through December 31, 2010
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

A love of art and nature merge in the work of Diane Murphy. Drawn to close examination of structure, growth process and seasonal change, the artist enjoys the challenge of careful observation and the reward of discovery. Irish philosopher and theologian John O'Donohue wrote, "so much depends on how we look at things. The quality of our looking determines what we come to see."

An enjoyable career teaching art at the high school and college level left little time for personal pursuits, but currently Murphy is able to use photography and the watercolor to continue to explore nature's offerings in Nebraska and her travels.

Although her painting is not limited to the botanical style, it has been a focus for much of her recent work. She was the winner of the Nebraska State Arboretum Botanical competition in 1999 and 2000, and she is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists.

Standard garden admission rates apply. Members are admitted free. Join today!
