Summer Horticulture, Marketing and Education Internships Offered 

  

Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha's Botanical Center, is a young and growing public garden located on a 100-acre site overlooking the Missouri River Valley. Internships at Lauritzen Gardens offer exciting opportunities for students to be closely involved with the challenges and rewards of working in a young public garden with a fast-paced atmosphere.

 

HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIPS: Four Positions 

Apply by March 12, 2010

Horticulture internships are available to current college students and individuals who have graduated within the last year. A sophomore level or higher standing is recommended. Students may receive academic credit through their institutions.

 

Duration: 16 weeks, starting in May

Compensation: $7.75 per hour

The horticulture intern will work directly with the garden's horticulture staff to gain practical work experience in all aspects of horticultural maintenance. Interns will spend time working in several different outdoor gardens, indoor floral display, greenhouse production, plant records and turf. 

 

MARKETING DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIP: One Position

Apply by March 12, 2010

Assist the marketing department with a variety of advertising, marketing, public relations, promotions and event-planning projects. This is a summer long, 640-hour internship. Monday through Friday and some weekends and evenings.

  

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIP: One Position

Apply by March 12, 2010

Duration: 3 to 4 months, starting in May

The education intern will conduct and assist with educational programs and tours for children and adults. Opportunities exist to be involved with program and written interpretation development. Education interns must speak and write well and enjoy meeting and teaching a variety of people. The education intern must also possess enthusiasm, flexibility and a love of the outdoors.
