MARCH

Take Me to the Tropics!

Wednesday, March 24
3 to 4:30 p.m.
The kids are on spring break, so let us take a vacation! Pack your bags, and travel to Lauritzen Gardens where you and your family will take a private tour of the tropical plants in the greenhouses and the indoor floral display hall. We will then travel back to the classroom where each family will plant a pineapple and enjoy some delicious tropical treats!

Home Sweet Planet Earth
Saturday, March 27
10 to 11:30 a.m.
Turn spring cleaning into family fun as we learn how to make our own safe and effective cleaning products using plants and other natural materials. Each family will make and take home natural furniture polish, metal cleaners and more! This class is designed for children ages five to 12 and one accompanying adult. (Please, no more than two children, including siblings, per adult.)

APRIL

Natural Egg Dyeing
Family workshop
Saturday, April 3
2 to 3:30 p.m.
Hop inside after the Easter Extravaganza egg hunt, and learn how to dye eggs the natural way. Each family will use common foods and flowers to dye a dozen eggs to hide at home. This class is designed for children ages five to 12 and one accompanying adult. (Please, no more than two children per adult.) All materials included.

MAY

May Baskets
Family workshop
Saturday, May 1
2 to 3:30 p.m.
Celebrate this spring tradition, and create a colorful basket of flowers to share. Each family will decorate its own basket and then plant it with fresh spring flowers. This class is designed for children ages five to 12 and one accompanying adult. (Please, no more than two children per adult.) All materials included.

Botanical Printmaking
Family workshop
Saturday, May 22
10 to 11:30 a.m.
Walk the garden with members of the Omaha Audubon Society, and learn the basics of birdwatching. Please, bring your own pair of binoculars, and wear comfortable shoes.

JUNE


Meet the Coneflowers
Family workshop
Saturday, June 5
2 to 3:30 p.m.
Join us as we take a hike and learn to identify several wildflowers based on a flower’s characteristics, leaves and scent. Families will create a wildflower take-along guide and plant a special coneflower to take home. Get ready to grow wild for wildflowers! This class is designed for children ages five to 12 and one accompanying adult. (Please, no more than two children per adult.) All materials included.

Grow Your Own Pizza
Family workshop
Tuesday, June 8
5:30 to 7 p.m.
Does your family have a special pizza night? If so, this is the workshop for you. We will show you how to grow all the plants needed to flavor your own special pizza in one container. Families will learn the secrets of keeping containers looking beautiful all summer long and learn a few recipes to make at home using plants grown in their own pizza container garden. Please, bring a 12- to 18-inch container. Any container will work, as long as it drains. Soil, plants and dinner will be supplied. This class is designed for children ages five to 12 and one accompanying adult. (Please, no more than two children per adult.)
$29/member family, $35/non-member family





REGISTRATION AND CANCELLATION INFORMATION
Sign Up Early!
Our programs fill quickly. Classes are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment, so please register at least one week in advance. Additional students are not added to sold-out courses, however, we will place your name on a waiting list and notify you if there is a cancellation. 


After You Register

We will contact you the week of the program to confirm your enrollment. 

 

Please dress accordingly to the weather for all outdoor programs. No rain or snow dates are planned. 

 

Upon arrival at the garden, please check in at the admission desk. Classroom doors are open one half-hour before starting time. 

 

Program registration includes admission to the garden for the entire day of the class. 

 

Children or guests who are not registered for the program will not be allowed into the class or garden without garden admission or program registration. Children’s programs, with the exception of programs for 3- to 5-year-olds, do not include adult admission to the garden. 

 
Refunds and Cancellations

If you must cancel your registration for a program, your registration fees will be refunded if notice is received at least one week before the program. 

 

Courses with insufficient registration are sometimes cancelled. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified by phone as early as possible. Full refunds are given for classed cancelled due to insufficient registration.
